COVID-19

Craig County Public Schools continues to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and are preparing for the continued learning of our students in the event we should close schools due to the virus. There are no plans to close schools at this time. The decision to close a school will be made jointly by the school division and the Virginia Department of Health, should that become necessary.

The CDC, VDH, and VDOE have encouraged school districts to make plans for continuity of instruction during a closure. CCPS is exploring all options for continuation of learning by providing online resources and opportunities for student learning in case of a closure. We are prepared to deliver instructional activities to students PreK-12 based on available tools and established distance learning systems. In order to meet the needs of all students and families in an equitable manner, instructional activities and resources may be provided online, attachments via email, or hard copy. Schools will make every effort to provide for instructional opportunities while remaining flexible to accommodate individual circumstances. In no case will a student be penalized due to a lack of resources, support, or internet access at home.

Craig County Public Schools will be closing at 12:30 on March 19th and will be closed on March 20th in order to provide time for teachers to prepare packets of work for students in case we are closed for an extended period of time.
